4 Ways To Use Power of 10 Minutes in Reinventing Your Life

Reinventing your life - Woman enjoying the calm breeze

How to start reinventing your life

Reinventing your life means changing for the better.  Remember time is precious. And if you’re not careful, it can slip through your fingers. So today, I’m going to share with you four ways that you can start reinventing your life in just ten minutes.

Here’s how it works :

The first step will be to make a list of important things for you.

The second step will be to identify one or two habits that stop you from reaching those goals.

The third step will replace those unwanted habits with positive new ones.

And the fourth step will be to establish a plan for making sure those new habits stick through any times of temptation.

So be sure to get your notebook or a journal with prompts. Using a journal with prompts helps you think of things that may not have been at the forefront of your mind but are essential to you.

This helps you explore your passion, in case you’ve forgotten what it was, as you’ve been busy working for someone else.

Do a short or more extended meditation to get in touch with your subconscious mind. Meditation improves breathing, in turn, allows you to be more in touch with that deep-rooted subconscious mind that stores all of the information and brings it to the surface with more clarity about changes you want to see happen in your life in following your passion.

Do these steps before you move on to step 1…

The Power Of 10 Minutes

You might be thinking, “Ten minutes? I have too many things to do in my daily life.”

But there is no time like the present to start changing your life. I know this because I’ve done it myself a few times throughout my life.

So don’t worry. We can all spare 10 minutes each day. Especially if you start today, it will only take you 10 minutes every day for the next month to make positive changes with your new habits, that will last a lifetime and make you feel amazing about yourself.

These small steps are essential in making long-term lifestyle changes because they help

us shift our mindset from “I’ll start tomorrow” to “today I’m starting or right now I’m starting with a small step.”

Start by making a list of five things that are important to you.

These might include anything from traveling the world to raising children, eating healthfully, or starting your own online business to empower yourself and live the life you’ve thought.

Once these thoughts have been clarified, it is time for planning and research so that you can find ways to make them happen affordably with as much ease as possible during the transition phase.

Then write down one or two habits preventing you from reaching your goals. For example, maybe you want to work out more but can’t seem to find the time in your schedule.

Next, replace those habits with new ones. For instance, if you’re trying to work out more but don’t have time during the weekdays, try working out on Saturday mornings or when everyone else is sleeping.

Finally, create a plan so that your new habits stick.

This could be something like getting up 20 minutes earlier every day so that you can go for an early morning walk before starting your day or joining an online course about fitness routines and meal plans so that you’re constantly learning new techniques and strategies for maximizing fitness time while minimizing downtime during the weekdays.

Step 1: Listing Your Goals

That’s the first step. You need to figure out what you want to achieve and list those goals.

When I ask people what they want, many say, “I don’t know.”

But it’s hard to be successful if you can’t answer that question. So take a few minutes and write down five important things to you.

What do you want?

Here are some starters to help you along with brainstorming-

1. Become a better version of yourself (what does this mean for you?)

2. Start creating your own online business

3. Becoming healthier and more fit

4. Having a more nutritional balance between work, personal life, and spirituality

5. Attracting a loving partner into your life

Once you have your list, move on to the next step.

Step 2: Identifying The Habits That Are Holding You Back

One of the best ways to start changing your habits is by identifying the habits holding you back.

So, what patterns might be preventing you from reaching your goals to reinvent your life?

Start to place 1 or 2 habits that are holding you back. Is it like……………….

  •  You spend too much time on social media
  •  You drink too many cups of coffee
  •  You watch too much TV instead of working on your passion project
  •  You eat takeout food three times a week and don’t walk enough

So here is where you identify and list the unwanted habits that stop you from moving forward into your new life.

Remember it’s best to identify only 1-2 self-sabotaging habits to begin with. As it’s easier to combat one bad habit before moving on to more habits you want to release from your life.

Step 3: Replacing Those Habits With New Ones

When it comes to changing any unwanted habits from time to time, it’s essential to avoid the temptation of jumping right in.

Changing too soon will likely lead you to fall back into the old habit, which means you’ll need to start all over again and it turn can be disheartening and takes longer to start again.

The best way to prevent that is by replacing one habit with another.

For example, if you’re used to watching TV for an hour before bed but want to stop, replace that habit with reading a book, listening to meditation music for an hour, or learning something new that will help your vision of the future.

This way, your new habit can slowly replace the old one.

Make sure your replacement habit won’t interfere too much with other tasks or responsibilities you already have each day. You don’t want your new routine to stop you from reaching your goals because it takes too much time!

So now brainstorm some ways to replace those old habits with new ones.

You can do this by using the following questions:

What are the benefits of replacing old habits with new ones?

What are the drawbacks of not replacing old habits with new ones?

How will I know if I’m successfully replacing my old habits with new ones?

Now, write down your answers to these questions.  A good method can be by using a mind map or a two-column question answer sheet, that you keep in your journal as a reminder and motivator to keep moving forward.

This is where you start to see how some simple strategies can accomplish your future vision. You’ll begin to see your future self in your vision and the tasks needed to bring it all together, just like a jigsaw puzzle.

Step 4: Creating A Plan For Sticking To Your New Habits

Now devise a short change plan. As with any change, it’s essential to have a plan for making sure the new habits stick. And that goes for small changes, too!

The first step was identifying the old habit you are trying to break.

Next, find out when and where (the trigger) is for you? So you can do the new habit instead of the old one at that trigger point. This way you are interrupting the unwanted pattern of behavior in its tracks.

For example, let’s say I’m trying to replace my coffee addiction with tea drinking. My trigger might be waking up in the morning—so I’ll drink my favorite cup of tea instead of coffee when I wake up in the morning.

Or the time I’m most likely to drink coffee is when I get home from work—so now, after work, I’ll make myself a hot cup of tea instead of grabbing my usual iced coffee.

Or at least start with decaf coffee or another favorite drink with a lot less caffeine. If tea is not an option, find some other healthier alternatives.

Now, all I need is my plan for sticking with this new habit!

To make sure it sticks, I can set reminders on my phone or put some sticky notes around my house telling myself, drinking tea now it’s healthy, and I like this.

Or, if those still aren’t enough, maybe find an accountability partner who can keep you accountable and remind you of your new goal and how great you’re doing and stick with it.

You can even use a gratitude list that tells your brain how great you’re doing, confirming the positive change that are sticking with you every day.

Other methods to help with healthy transformational change can be a variety of mindset tools like:
