When you hear the word “chakra,” what comes to mind? Many people think about a spinning wheel of energy in the body.  But what is a crown chakra, and what role does it play in our overall health and well-being?  Let’s find out more about this powerful energy center and its role in our lives.

What Is A Crown Chakra?

The crown chakra, or Sahasrara in Sanskrit, is one of the seven main chakras in the human body.  It is located at the top of the head and is responsible for our connection to the divine.

When our chakra is open and flowing freely, we feel a sense of unity with all that exists and a deep sense of spiritual bliss.

The chakra can be opened through meditation, prayer, or simply spending time in nature.  So if you’re searching to deepen your spiritual practice and experience more bliss in your life, opening your crown chakra may be a good place to start.

This chakra represents one of the seven wheels of vibrational energy within our spiritual body. Each of our energy wheels or Chakras is located at separate points along our spine. According to Chakra healing, the entire universe is composed of vibrational energy, with each object containing a unique range of frequencies.

So, every one of our Chakras has a unique frequency and serves a different organ and an associated nerve network.

Sahasrara Meaning

The Sahasrara meaning is a “thousand-petaled” in Sanskrit.  This refers to the seventh and highest chakra, located at the top of the head. Since it is located at the crown of our head and therefore has close associations with clarity of thought and spiritual awareness.

The Crown Chakra also impacts how we sense the physical world through our nervous system.  When we are in a deep meditative state, we connect with the spirit world and higher consciousness, like the Divine or God source.

Some different vibrational frequencies can be used for crown chakra activation and balancing.

Some believe that the crown chakra has vibrational frequencies aligned with 216 Hz, which can be used to connect with the energy of our spiritual world.

While using the vibrational frequency of 963 Hz connects to the divine source. This is the universal God source or higher power.

When we have a Crown Chakra imbalance, we can work to address this by aligning with some of the solfeggio vibrational frequency music, in yoga and meditation practices.  The more consistently we work on these, the more spiritually aligned we become to our intuitive abilities and talents.

To have perfectly aligned Chakras achieve perfect mental health, spiritual enlightenment, greater well-being, and a state of higher consciousness.

Crown Chakra Blocked Symptoms

As the Crown Chakra is located at the top of your head, some of the signs or crown chakra blocked symptoms are usually connected with thought, sense, and mind-related issues.  This chakra can also be affected by all seven Chakras in the body as our spiritual energy runs throughout our body.  When we successfully unblock this chakra, we will feel present, mindful, and feel able to trust our instincts.

Issues that usually come up from an overactive Crown Chakra can therefore include but are not limited to:

How To Unblock Your Crown Chakra

As we have seen, when we unblock our Crown Chakra, we bring a higher awareness to our lives and heighten our intuitive senses.  So when we have a balanced Crown Chakra, we feel more energetic and at peace with the world. What Chakra is rose quartz good for?

In chakra healing practices, the rose quartz crystal is considered to be a Heart chakra stone.  In Sanskrit, the term that chakra is most closely linked to is ‘Anahata’, which translates to ‘unhurt’ and ‘unbeaten’.  Its vibration is primarily feminine.  So the properties of rose quartz have strong associations with romantic love, goddess energy, the Divine Feminine and the moon.

Thanks to its association with the heart itself, which is situated at the centre of the body, you can also use rose quartz to align the other six chakras.  This can help to restore your overall emotional health.

This malleable crystal is often distributed in the shape of a rose quartz Heart stone to further promote calmness and serenity.  To gain maximum impact from this practice, remember to cleanse and charge rose quartz prior to use.

Crown Chakra Healing:  5 Easy Ways To Do This

1. Crown Chakra Stones: Stones and crystals for Crown Chakra healing are a powerful way for us to harness the vibrational frequencies that occur in nature. We can experience healing simply by wearing cleansed Crown Chakra stones as jewelry or placing crystals in our homes.

However, crystals absorb our negative energies, so they require regular cleansing to be effective. To cleanse a crystal of its negative energies, we can use water, sage, or breathwork.

2. Positive Meditation Mantras: To meditate, we can simply find ourselves in a comfortable Lotus Flower position, clear our minds and chant our mantra of choice. The best-known mantra of all is ‘Om .’ This is a universal symbol of the more expansive universe and wholeness, working particularly well alongside the Crown Chakra. There is also a variety of comfortable meditation cushions and seating to make your meditative practice more enjoyable and longer lasting.

This chakra is about universal consciousness, inner wisdom, and clearing our minds. Meditation can be practiced alongside Chakra stones, essential oils, Chakra music, and yoga for added effect.

3. Yoga Practice: The Lotus Pose is the yoga pose most frequently associated with the final chakra. This is also a simple but classic meditation pose.  If possible, we simply place a foot on each thigh and hold our fingers together with our palms up facing.

This is also an excellent warm-up for more challenging yoga practices or beginning a deep meditation.  If we are looking for a challenge, we may wish to try a more advanced headstand. You may want to visit a yoga class before attempting a headstand to prevent injury.

4. Crown Chakra Sound: Each chakra usually resonates with a particular sound or mantra.  The crown chakra resonates with deep spiritual thought and silence. To open and heal the crown chakra, one must be comfortable with silence and stillness. Sometimes it can be hard to be silent and not fill the void with empty words and mindless chatter. However, it is important to find that silence within and connect with the crown chakra. The crown chakra is the gateway to higher states of consciousness. A great way to do this is through meditation or yoga. By focusing on the breath and clearing the mind, you can begin to connect with the crown chakra. It is also important to spend time in nature and appreciate the world’s silence around us.

5. Crown Chakra Healing Music: This chakra also resonates with the soft sounds of crown chakra healing music. This type of music is typically very calming and relaxing, with a slow tempo and gentle melodies. First, it can be helpful to ground yourself. This can be done by focusing on your breath. Once you’re grounded, you can connect with spirit, cosmos and moving upward to the Divine or God source.  Listening to crown chakra music specifically designed to help you relax and achieve a state of total connection.
